Con đang ở trường gây thiệt hại ai phải bồi thường ?

Cháu tôi 9 tuổi được đi cắm trại tại công viên do nhà trường tổ chức, do nghịch ngợm, cháu cùng một số bạn đã dẫm nát hai luống hoa, cây cảnh mới trồng. Ban quản lý công viên yêu cầu nhà trường phải đền bù thiệt hại. Nhà trường cho rằng bố, mẹ các cháu đã gây thiệt hại là người phải bồi thường. Bố mẹ các cháu cho rằng vụ việc xảy ra trong thời gian nhà trường quản lý nên trường có trách nhiệm bồi thường. Xin hỏi trong trường hợp này, trách nhiệm bồi thường thiệt hại thuộc về ai?
